This guide shows you exactly how to use openapk.site to grab YouTube thumbnails in HD or 4K with just a few clicks.
Go to YouTube and open the video whose thumbnail you want. Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar, or tap “Share → Copy link” in the YouTube app. You can also copy only the 11-character video ID if you prefer.
Visit https://openapk.site. At the top of the page you’ll see an input box that says “Paste YouTube URL or ID”. Click or tap inside, and paste the URL or ID that you copied.
Hit the Get Thumbnails button. The tool will detect the video ID, generate different thumbnail URLs, and show every available image size in a preview grid.
Each thumbnail will have two buttons:
Filenames include both the video ID and the size label, such as
VIDEOID-maxresdefault.jpg, making organization easier if you download many images.
Sometimes creators do not upload a dedicated high-resolution thumbnail. In that case YouTube may only provide
hqdefault or sddefault. If maxres shows a “Not Available” placeholder in Open A P K,
simply choose one of the other sizes – they will still look sharp for many use cases.
Open A P K runs entirely in your browser. Links are processed with JavaScript only; your video URLs are not stored on a server. Thumbnails are loaded directly from YouTube’s CDN, just as they would be when you browse YouTube normally.
Ready to try it? Go back to the Open A P K homepage and paste any public YouTube link to see the thumbnails instantly.
